Mental Health Counselor Sara Carter, of Seattle, Washington, stands behind her laptop with a cup of coffee to her side, smiling to camera.

I believe life is a journey towards wholeness, not perfection.

I provide mental health counseling to adolescents, young adults, and educators, drawing from nearly three decades as a school counselor and learning specialist in secondary education.

Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up.

COUNSELING

Adolescents and Young Adults (ages 14-young adult):

Adolescence through young adulthood is a time of critical social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development during which young people may appear to hold it all together. Yet on the inside, numerous life circumstances may challenge our ability to cope, manage everyday stressors and feel in control.

With 27 years combined experience as a teacher, school counselor and learning specialist, I bring a unique perspective of empathy, compassion, optimism and humor to my counseling practice.

Educators of all ages -
Teachers, School Counselors, Learning Support Staff:

As an educator, you are often the one person students turn to for support in navigating the intensity of their lived experience. And while you care deeply, you may not feel equipped to help support your students through the roller coaster of adolescence.

My goal is to support educators with your own mental and emotional wellness, such that you feel better prepared to support the students with whom you work everyday.

Throughout my 27 years experience working in schools as a teacher, school counselor, and learning specialist, I’ve become particularly attuned to the overwhelming challenges of working with adolescents and young adults in today’s increasingly complicated school environment.

COACHING

Grappling with the future instead of the past?

I offer executive function and/or organizational coaching services, too!

Research confirms that the human brain is not fully developed until somewhere between 25 and 30 years old. I enjoy working collaboratively with adolescents and young adults to discover your inherent strengths and identify strategies and resources to improve any areas of struggle. This may include support with building executive function skills such as organization, time management, task initiation and sustaining attention.

Additionally, I support clients through important life transitions including middle to high school, high school to college, and college to career, by implementing systems and strategies to maximize organization, preparation, and your health and wellbeing. Together, I strive to encourage and empower you to expand your own toolbox, flex your growth mindset muscle, instill grit, work through challenges, increase skills, and ultimately find success you feel good about.

The habits you build now will only continue to serve you as you grow and your brain matures.
